About this list

For a player who wants a game rather than a lesson, Cairo’s answer is a tournament. The Cairo Chess Club in Heliopolis holds events through the year, mostly blitz; Wadi Degla Chess Academy runs a numbered series and a Super League rapid; the Heliopolis Sporting Club and the 6th of October Club hold rapid championships under their own names; and the federation’s International Egypt Champions series and the Premier League A complete the Cairo side.

West of the Nile, Giza has the weekly series: Golden Knight, with events named after Dokki, Golden Nine with rapid, blitz and classical days, Nova X, and the Haram Sigma rapids on Fridays. The Dokki team, first in the league table of 2025–2026, ran open events in early 2025. Adly Chess Academy’s international festival brings classical and rapid sections to the covered hall of Cairo Stadium in Nasr City.
